How this works

Gallivant is a guide to going out in greater Sacramento, from concerts and festivals to recurring trivia nights and happy hours.

I've lived in Sacramento since 2017 and made Gallivant because I adore this town and the incredible community and businesses here. There is always so much happening, and we needed an up-to-date source to easily discover it all.

Every listing links to where it came from: the venue, the organizer, or the ticket page. If the source and Gallivant ever disagree, trust the source, and please let me know so I can fix it. Listings run about two months out. They cover all Sac neighborhoods and surrounding cities. I'm always scouting for more venues and events, and I add each one once I've checked its source.

Every Monday morning, Gallivant checks ticketing services like Ticketmaster and Eventbrite, and reads the calendars and Instagram posts of local venues, organizers, and community groups that I've picked out by hand. New events go up that morning, and canceled ones come down. Happy hours are checked against each bar's own website about once a month. Each listing shows when it was last checked. If I can't confirm something is still happening, I take it down.

There are no accounts, and anything you save stays in your browser.

On a phone, you can add Gallivant to your home screen, and it opens like an app.

The logo was designed by a local designer. The backdrop is inspired by Sacramento's grid, turned about 19° from true north to match the real thing.

Running Gallivant has real costs: hosting, map data, and the services that gather and check listings every week. A few ads from Google help cover them. Google uses cookies to choose and measure those ads, and the privacy page explains how to turn off personalized ads.

If Gallivant has helped you find a good night out and you'd like to buy me a coffee, you can send a tip via Venmo at @gallivant. I greatly appreciate your support!
